Chapter 864
Evelyn Ross was stunned.
She looked at Natalie Castillo.
The other woman's nose was red, and her shoulders trembled slightly, clearly holding back tears.
Evelyn then looked at Joanna Sterling.
She found Joanna's eyes were also rimmed with red.
Evelyn was silent for a moment.
She gently patted Natalie's shoulder.
Then she smiled at Joanna.
"Nicole has an impatient nature. Please bear with her."
"I understand," Joanna said calmly.
"I know her temper well."
Chloe Roland walked over with a glass, her voice light.
"Oh, why do you all look like that? As if it's a final farewell. Come on, have a drink~"
She raised the bottle and took a big gulp.
Then she let out a hiccup.
Her cheeks quickly flushed red, and her eyes grew hazy.
Chloe suddenly hugged Evelyn, her voice choked with tears.
"Savior... sob... I've missed you so much!"
She sobbed.
"If it weren't for you back then, I would have died. After returning to New York, I was afraid of being mocked. It was you who gave me courage..."
Evelyn gave a helpless, wry smile.
Mia Truman pouted nearby.
"Is her alcohol tolerance that bad? One glass and she's down?"
Evelyn chuckled.
"She was a good girl since childhood, rarely drank."
Mia immediately retorted.
"I drink too, but I'm also very well-behaved!"
Evelyn laughed in agreement.
"Alright, alright, alright."
She was about to help Chloe to the sofa to rest when the other girl tightly grabbed her arm.
"Savior, my brother said... it seems like you're going somewhere far away. You've arranged all the company matters. Are you... not coming back?"
Evelyn was taken aback.
So that's why Chloe came today.
Before she could speak, Mia also looked over.
"My brother said the same thing."
Evelyn was both amused and exasperated.
These two weren't the most well-informed, but they both had well-informed brothers.
Chloe spoke haltingly.
"Savior... no matter where you go... no matter if we stay in touch later... I just hope you... live well!"
Mia turned her face away, her eyes slightly red.
"So sentimental, and such a crybaby."
She added awkwardly.
"Ms. Ross, someone as capable as you will surely be fine. You can overcome any difficulty. I'll wait for you to come back to New York!"
"...Okay."
Evelyn looked at the two before her.
One was a delicate, sheltered heiress.
The other seemed strong but was equally worried.
In their eyes, that concern was unmistakable.
Chloe's eyes were tearful.
Mia's face was full of worry.
Evelyn clenched her fist and suddenly smiled.
"No problem."
Unknowingly, she had gained so many friends.
She was no longer that love child hiding in the Sterling Family's shadow...
That night, they had a wild, thoroughly enjoyable time.
Evelyn, rarely letting loose, drank quite a bit with Natalie, Joanna, and even Mia.
Time flew.
The sky darkened and then lightened, the horizon gradually stained with the red glow of dawn.
Evelyn sat up from the sofa.
She found the others had all passed out, sleeping in disarray.
But she was unusually clear-headed.
Last night, Alexander Vance had swapped all her alcohol for water.
The others had noticed, but no one pointed it out.
Because everyone understood she had important matters today and couldn't truly get drunk.
Alexander was already standing beside her, quietly waiting to depart.
Evelyn looked at her friends scattered around the room.
"Arrange for someone to take them home," she said softly.
Alexander took her hand.
"It's already arranged. Don't worry."
Evelyn nodded.
"Is it time?"
"It's time. We should go."
Evelyn looked at him.
"Alexander Vance, are you ready?"
"Ready for what?" Alexander asked.
Evelyn gave a light laugh.
"To accompany me through fire and water. Are you ready?"
Alexander also smiled.
"Always ready."
They shared a smile.
Evelyn extended her hand.
"Then come with me, to explore the Sterling Family!"
Alexander nodded, gripping her hand tightly.
They turned and walked out.
They didn't see that after they left, those "passed out" friends slowly opened their eyes.
They silently watched their departing figures.
