Chapter 781
Cecilia Evans's words fell, plunging the entire banquet hall into dead silence.
Everyone stared at her in shock.
Evelyn Ross looked utterly bewildered.
Sebastian Truman was also stunned. Mia Truman froze for a moment before her eyes instantly reddened. "Second Brother, you have colon cancer? Since when? Why didn't you tell me?"
Her tears poured forth, even more violently than when she learned of Liam Cooper's betrayal. "How could this happen..."
Aaron Truman wanted to comfort her, to say it wasn't him, but before he could speak, another wave of violent retching overtook him.
His peanut allergy wasn't severe, thanks to timely medication. The main issue was expelling the ingested peanuts. Once that was done, he felt much better.
He couldn't speak for a moment. Cecilia Evans seized the opportunity. "It was diagnosed recently. Honey, you can't have anything happen to you. What would I do if something happened to you?"
She turned to Sebastian Truman. "Big Brother, you must get justice for him!"
Sebastian Truman stared coldly at Cecilia Evans, then glanced silently at Evelyn Ross. His voice was low. "What justice?"
"My uncle and aunt-in-law must have known about Aaron's condition. They deliberately drugged him. It's because you refused to cooperate before, and they're taking it out on Aaron. My poor husband... It's all my fault for dragging you into this!"
Cecilia Evans pretended to cry, though she herself felt nauseous.
What was wrong today?
Her stomach felt so awful!
But she forced it down, her focus entirely on Evelyn Ross. She calculated that today could drive the Truman and Vance families apart again. Then...
If Aaron died, she could still stay with the Truman family under Sebastian's protection!
Thinking this, Cecilia cried even more pitifully.
Mia Truman couldn't help but look at Evelyn Ross. "Evelyn, what's really going on? How could there be medicine in the fish soup?"
Evelyn Ross spoke. "I didn't do it. This medicine isn't something you encounter in daily life. Who keeps something like this at home?"
Mia Truman immediately nodded. "You're right. It definitely wasn't you."
Cecilia Evans instantly retorted. "Mia, don't believe her. If it wasn't her, then who? This is the Vance residence!"
Cecilia stood up, pointing accusingly at Evelyn Ross. "Uncle, ever since you married this woman, this house has been in chaos. It used to be so harmonious. The main and second branches got along so well. But after she entered, she's stirred up trouble, making peaceful coexistence impossible!"
Alexander Vance sneered. "The main branch and I got along? Are you blind or just delusional? Were we ever harmonious? Or is it that my constant concessions allowed the main branch to remain stable, which you call 'harmony'?"
Cecilia Evans was momentarily speechless. She argued again. "But we're family! Blood is thicker than water! Uncle, you used to tolerate it all. Why did you stop later?"
Alexander Vance found this laughable.
Just because he tolerated the main branch, maintaining a false harmony, he was supposed to tolerate it forever? Watch them cause trouble every day?
He looked at Cecilia Evans, feeling there was nothing more to say.
Cecilia Evans turned to Sebastian Truman again. "Big Brother, you must get justice for Aaron. Aaron can't die under such suspicious circumstances!"
Aaron Truman finally finished vomiting.
He looked at Cecilia Evans. "Cecilia, I'm fine..."
"How can you be fine? You originally had a few months left. Because of this medicine, you might not even make it through today! This medicine is harmless to ordinary people, but fatal to colon cancer patients. Aaron, they did it on purpose! To frame me, to kill you, to cut off my ties with the Truman family. Waaah..."
Aaron Truman listened to her crying, looked at her, and for a moment didn't know what to say.
He was a bit dazed.
He was already fine. The allergy medication had taken effect in time. The foreign object sensation in his throat was gone. The itching on his body was subsiding.
But right now, he just felt awkward.
What should he do?
He wasn't even dead yet, and someone was already mourning him?
He was stunned for a moment before speaking. "Cecilia, I really am fine..."
"How can you be fine? Don't comfort me. I saw your hospital reports recently!" Cecilia Evans wiped her tears. "Don't worry about burdening me. I don't blame you... If you die, I won't live either! Aaron, don't die. What would I do if you died? The Truman family doesn't want me. The Vance family wants to harm me... What would I do? Waaah..."
"Uh."
Cecilia Evans cried heartbrokenly, but Aaron Truman didn't know what to say.
He reached out and patted Cecilia's back, pushing her away slightly. "Stop crying. I'm really fine."
Seeing Cecilia about to cry again, Aaron Truman immediately spoke. "I don't have colon cancer!"
Cecilia Evans froze. "How is that possible? I saw the report with my own eyes!"
Seeing her reaction, Aaron Truman sighed deeply. "The person who has colon cancer... is actually you."
