Chapter 847
After hanging up the phone, Evelyn Ross paced a few steps inside the cabin.
The cabin door was suddenly knocked.
She walked over and found it was Mason Evans.
Mason got straight to the point.
"Someone has been impersonating us in the rooms all along, fooling everyone on the ship."
"Today is the last day. We must show ourselves to solidify the illusion that we've been on board these past few days."
Evelyn nodded immediately.
She changed her clothes and followed Mason out of the room.
Most passengers on this cruise ship were Chinese—after all, it had departed from New York.
Mason spoke in a low voice as they walked.
"Usually, we need to create something memorable. Something that makes people on the ship remember our faces, proving we were indeed here."
Evelyn understood.
The meaning was they had to leave evidence that both of them had been on the ship these past few days.
At least, the waitstaff or other passengers needed to have an impression.
Otherwise, it would be troublesome if someone investigated later.
She lowered her gaze, thinking for a moment, then walked straight into a watch boutique.
A salesperson was diligently attending to customers.
Seeing the two enter, she merely glanced at their attire, and the smile on her face faded slightly.
"Sir, Miss, what would you like to purchase? You need to queue."
The salesperson walked over, stopping them at the entrance.
Evelyn glanced inside the store.
There were only two couples, not many people at all.
She knew luxury stores often had queue limits for crowd control.
But they were at sea.
The cruise was already on its return journey.
Anyone who wanted to buy something would have done so by now.
Where would so many people come from?
This salesperson was clearly looking down on them because of their modest clothing.
Evelyn smiled slightly.
Wasn't this a perfect opportunity to make people remember them?
Her expression darkened.
"How do you treat customers? Call your manager over."
The salesperson pursed her lips, forcing a fake smile.
"Our manager is here. But we follow proper procedures. Miss, what exactly do you want to buy? Or would you like a glass of water? I can get one for you. But there are two groups of guests currently browsing. We hope you won't disturb their shopping experience."
Evelyn retorted.
"Quite skilled at twisting the narrative, aren't you? Let me ask you, what's the daily customer flow limit for your store? Why should we queue?"
The salesperson said bluntly.
"There's no fixed requirement for customer flow. It depends on our personal judgment. We have few guests today, but we also have few staff. We can't handle more."
Evelyn swept her gaze across the store.
Seven or eight other salespeople were idle.
Hearing this, they all looked over.
Meeting Evelyn's eyes, they immediately averted their gazes, pretending not to see.
Evelyn scoffed.
"This is what you call 'busy'?"
The salesperson said.
"They are all serving customers online. Miss, how about this? I'll assist you. What would you like to buy?"
Evelyn smiled.
"A bag."
The salesperson replied.
"Our store sells men's watches, Miss. We don't sell bags."
"Oh, so you do know that." Evelyn raised an eyebrow.
"Your store doesn't sell anything else, so why ask me what I want to buy? Did I come to your store to buy something else? Or do you simply not want to serve customers?"
She was always quick-witted.
In just a few sentences, she left the salesperson speechless.
The salesperson was stumped.
Finally, the manager noticed the commotion at the entrance and walked over.
He glared at the salesperson.
The salesperson rolled her eyes and turned away.
The manager looked at Evelyn.
"Miss, what would you like to purchase?"
Evelyn spoke directly.
"Which is the most expensive watch you have here?"
The manager was taken aback and also sized up Evelyn.
Evelyn had been frugal since childhood, preferring casual wear.
Even after earning money later, she hadn't replaced all her clothes with private customizations.
She was different from rich heirs like Alexander Vance, who had grown up in luxury.
The outfit she was wearing now was bought online for a few dozen dollars years ago.
It looked somewhat worn.
The manager offered a strained smile.
"Miss, our store's masterpiece is here..."
He led Evelyn and Mason over but only let them view it from across the counter.
Evelyn immediately saw the watch's price tag: $4.88 million.
She raised an eyebrow.
This price was nothing to her now.
She said directly.
"Take it out. Let me see it."
The manager's expression turned even uglier.
Logically, upon seeing this price, customers without the means should back off.
Why was this person in front of him so persistent?
How could the store's masterpiece be casually taken out for viewing!
He forced another fake smile.
"I'm sorry, Miss. Our store's masterpiece isn't available for casual purchase. I..."
Before he could finish, Evelyn suddenly pulled out a card and slapped it on the counter.
"Do you recognize this card?"
The manager glanced down and was instantly stunned.
It was a global, unlimited black card!
