Chapter 788

Wasn't Zack Davis that scumbag the biological father of Chloe Davis?

He was the child born from the marriage between her sister Grace and Zack...

Evelyn's fingers tightened slightly around her phone.

Her voice sounded a bit unsteady. "I'm coming over now."

She hung up the call.

Alexander sensed something was wrong from her expression. "What happened?"

Evelyn took a deep breath. "Chloe's biological father has shown up. I don't know who it is... I need to go see."

"I'll come with you."

Just as they were about to leave, Natalie Castillo poked her head in from the doorway, holding a chicken leg and some sunflower seeds. "I'm coming too!"

She bounced along after them.

Once in the car, Natalie tilted her head and looked at Alexander. "Mr. Vance, don't you have to work? Isn't the Vance Group huge? Don't you need to be there?"

Alexander kept his eyes on the road, one hand resting on the steering wheel. "Do you have a problem with that, Miss Castillo?"

"No problem, just curious." Natalie pouted. "People might think the Vance Group went bankrupt, the way you stick to Evelyn all day."

She leaned closer to the passenger seat. "Evelyn, let me tell you, you shouldn't get involved with a man who lacks ambition. Who's going to support the family later? Would you have to support him?"

Evelyn gave her a cool glance. "Shut up."

"Okay."

Natalie shrank back into the rear seat and obediently cracked her sunflower seeds.

Evelyn watched her in the rearview mirror.

This girl feared nothing, yet she listened to her.

It was like some inexplicable bloodline domiSterlingce.

She then looked at Alexander.

She knew why he was always by her side.

He had been terrified after what happened in San Francisco.

Now, with dangers lurking everywhere, he wouldn't leave her side for a moment.

The car soon arrived at the Ashcroft residence.

Marcus Valentine and Mina Sherwood stood at the entrance, their expressions complicated.

Although they vaguely suspected Evelyn's true identity, she was currently Grace.

The man inside the room was Chloe's father, which meant he was Grace's man.

This situation... was extremely awkward.

Evelyn nodded at them and walked into the living room.

Before she could clearly see the visitor, a scent of gardenia washed over her.

Immediately after, she was pulled into a tight embrace by a man.

Evelyn's entire body stiffened.

Once she processed it, she immediately pushed him away.

"Grace, I finally found you..."

The man's voice carried a sorrow that inexplicably tightened Evelyn's heart.

She looked up.

An extraordinarily beautiful face came into view.

So beautiful it blurred the lines between masculine and feminine.

Stunning at first glance, and still breathtakingly unreal upon a second look.

Both Evelyn and Alexander were exceptionally good-looking people.

Yet the person before them could rival them, even... perhaps slightly surpass them.

Alexander's handsomeness carried a masculine vigor.

Evelyn's beauty was dazzling and radiant, holding nothing back.

But the man before her had features so exquisite they seemed flawless.

He wore a black suit, his frame too slender to properly fill out its cut.

The black made his porcelain-pale face even more striking.

His hair wasn't a neat short cut; strands fell over his forehead, slightly obscuring his brows, and a wolf-cut style at the back added an exotic touch.

His skin was pale, almost bloodless, carrying a sickly quality.

His frail body looked as if a gentle push would topple him.

Evelyn had only given a light push earlier, and he had stumbled back several steps.

He really was... easy to push away.

But...

Why was he looking at her with that innocent, accusing, resentful gaze?

Evelyn was speechless.

She wanted to ask who he was but felt it would be impolite.

Besides... she was currently impersonating Grace.

Judging by this man's demeanor, the two of them must know each other.

How should she even begin?

As Evelyn was pondering, Alexander stepped to her side.

"And who is this?" Alexander spoke up. "Grace, aren't you going to introduce us?"

Evelyn blinked.

She understood Alexander was giving her an out.

She deliberately remained silent.

Alexander extended his hand to the man. "Hello, Alexander Vance, Grace's fiancé. And you are? What's your relationship with Grace?"

The man's expression turned shocked upon hearing the word "fiancé."

He looked at Evelyn in disbelief, then back at Alexander.

His beautiful brows furrowed.

A faint aura of distance and coolness suddenly enveloped him.

He was silent for a moment, seemingly waiting for Grace's introduction that never came. His eyes grew even more sorrowful.

His fists clenched, then relaxed.

"I am Grace's boyfriend." His voice was low. "She probably never mentioned me to you. My name is... Elian Cross."

Evelyn and Alexander were both taken aback.

Alexander frowned. "Elian Cross?"

"Yes, my surname is Cross." The man looked at Evelyn, his gaze tender. "Elian is the Chinese name I chose for myself after meeting Grace."

He asked softly, "Grace, do you like this name?"
