Chapter 786
Evelyn Ross and Alexander Vance exchanged a glance, their gazes simultaneously settling on Natalie Castillo.
Natalie pouted, looking utterly innocent.
"Alright, alright, I'll tell the truth—I don't have the medicine at all!"
Her words left Aaron Truman and Cecilia Evans stunned.
Natalie tossed the "pill" she had just taken out into her mouth, chewing with relish.
"This is a meatball made from beef jerky. I saw her medicine looked like a vitamin tablet, so I just bluffed you."
She blinked, her expression both naive and sly.
Cecilia felt as if she had been struck by lightning.
She had thought she wasn't afraid of death, which was why her performance had been so convincing.
But when the shadow of death truly loomed over her, fear flooded her like a tidal wave.
She had confessed to atone for her sins, hoping to soften Natalie's heart enough to give her the life-saving medicine.
She never imagined Natalie had been lying to her all along!
"You lied to me... you liar!" Cecilia screamed hysterically, lunging to grab Natalie.
Before Natalie could move, Spencer Valentine stepped forward, firmly blocking Cecilia.
"What do you think you're doing? You did wrong, and you have the nerve to blame others? Don't even think about touching my Natalie!"
Natalie hid behind him, sticking her tongue out at Cecilia.
"Who told you to be so manipulative from the start? So what if I tricked you? Besides, you brought this all on yourself—if you had taken your medicine on time, you wouldn't be in this state!"
Cecilia shrieked madly.
"I'll drag you down with me even if I die!"
Before she could finish, she suddenly vomited a mouthful of black blood and collapsed limply to the floor.
Blood continued to gush from her mouth.
She could no longer speak, only glaring at Natalie with hatred.
Natalie finally stepped out from behind Spencer, patting her chest.
"Don't come looking for me after you die, I'm completely innocent!"
Then she tugged at Spencer's sleeve, her voice soft and sweet.
"Spencer, I'm scared."
Spencer immediately straightened his back, shielding her.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here!"
Natalie muttered quietly.
"I'm afraid her blood will splatter on the table... I haven't finished eating yet."
Spencer immediately turned, positioning himself between Cecilia and the dining table.
"Then I'll protect the table."
Everyone else: "..."
Yet these two didn't seem to find anything amiss.
Natalie sat back down at the table, picking up a chicken leg and happily munching away.
"Delicious! Spencer, you're amazing."
Spencer smiled gently.
"As long as you're enjoying it."
Cecilia trembled with rage, wanting to speak but only managing hoarse gasps.
Finally, she cast a pleading look at Aaron.
Aaron was watching her quietly.
Sebastian Truman walked over to him, speaking in a low voice.
"This matter has nothing to do with the Vance family, nor with Miss Castillo."
Aaron nodded with a bitter smile.
"Brother, I understand... I'm not that unreasonable."
He had been blinded by Cecilia before, but now the truth was laid bare before him.
Cecilia had brought this upon herself through her own actions.
How could he blame the Vance family?
He bent down and picked up the still-bleeding Cecilia.
"I'll take you to the hospital."
With that, he hurriedly carried her out of the living room.
The room quickly fell silent.
The Vance family butler led the servants in swiftly cleaning the blood from the floor.
But a faint metallic scent still lingered in the air.
The windows were opened for ventilation, yet everyone had lost their appetite.
Only Natalie continued to eat with gusto.
Joanna Sterling couldn't help but look at her.
"You... you can still eat?"
Having just witnessed Cecilia vomiting so much blood, how could anyone still have an appetite?
Natalie nodded, her cheeks puffed out with food.
"What's the big deal? Let me tell you, when I was a doctor, I even ate meals next to corpses! Food is so delicious, how can you waste it?"
She looked at the table full of dishes, her eyes filled with pain at such "wanton waste."
Unfortunately, no matter how much she could eat, she couldn't finish the entire feast alone.
She could only watch helplessly as the dishes were cleared away, sighing in disappointment.
Evelyn silently observed her—was this foodie really that cunning fox?
Only when toying with Cecilia earlier had she revealed a glimpse of her sly nature.
Usually, no matter how you looked at her, she seemed like a naive, lovely young girl.
This was precisely why Evelyn, though sensitive to the name "Sterling," had not grown suspicious after observing her for a while.
Her disguise was too perfect.
So perfect that it gave Evelyn the illusion that her intelligence was an act, and this gluttonous appearance was her true nature.
Evelyn twitched the corner of her mouth and simply said,
"Since everyone has lost their appetite, let's disperse and go do our own things."
Everyone nodded, returning to the previous entertainment area.
As for Cecilia...
No one wanted to care about what happened to her.
Having vomited that much black blood, she likely wouldn't survive.
Evelyn was no saint.
Cecilia had committed so many evil deeds; Evelyn couldn't possibly offer her sympathy.
The group spent the day having fun together.
As dusk fell and the sky darkened, Mia Truman and Sebastian reluctantly said their goodbyes.
At the doorway, Sebastian suddenly stopped and looked at Evelyn.
"Miss Ross, there's something I want to tell you."
Evelyn looked up.
"What is it?"
Alexander also turned to look.
Sebastian said slowly,
"I know who 'Scarlett King' is."
Evelyn and Alexander were both taken aback.
"Who is it?"
