Chapter 602
Nicole Sterling finished speaking and turned her gaze to the family doctor.
Old Mr. Castillo, Anthony Castillo, and even Natalie Castillo all held their breath, staring at him nervously.
Evelyn Ross also looked up.
Under the weight of so many stares, the family doctor broke into a fine sweat. He forced a smile and handed the printed report to Old Mr. Castillo.
"Sir, this young lady and you... share no blood relation."
The air instantly froze.
Evelyn frowned tightly.
Old Mr. Castillo was stunned. "Impossible!"
He snatched the report, his eyes scanning the glaring data line—DNA similarity only around thirty percent, conclusively showing no familial relationship.
The light in Old Mr. Castillo's eyes abruptly died. He slowly turned to look at Evelyn.
Evelyn pressed her lips together, saying nothing.
Nicole's laughter rang out at that moment, sharp and triumphant. "Ha, haha! Old man Castillo, you should believe it now, right? She played you! She and Alexander Vance have been fooling you from the start! Restoring the photo, her grandmother being your first love... all made up! What are the odds of something so coincidental?"
Old Mr. Castillo's hands began to tremble. The shock in his eyes was gradually swallowed by immense disappointment.
After a long while, he rasped, staring at Evelyn, "Miss Ross, what do you have to say for yourself?!"
He flung the report violently at Evelyn, his fists clenched so tight they creaked.
Nicole fanned the flames from the side. "She and Alexander Vance made a fool of you. Are you still going to give her the antidote for the Seven-Day Powder? Old man Castillo, are you that afraid of the Valentine family?"
Anthony Castillo shouted sharply, "You shut up!"
He turned to Old Mr. Castillo, his tone urgent. "Grandfather, even if Miss Ross is not your granddaughter, you should still give her the Seven-Day Powder. Mr. Valentine is innocent."
"Innocent?" Nicole sneered. "When the Castillo and Valentine families clash in the future, there will be no such thing as innocent! Anthony, I'll give you an old saying—mercy to the enemy is cruelty to oneself!"
She lifted her chin, pointing arrogantly at Evelyn. "Dealing with a fraud like this, you have to make her pay! Grace Valentine, remember this. If Mr. Valentine dies, it's your fault! You deceived the Castillo family, so the Castillos retaliated! You personally caused your own father's death... how dare you keep living in this world?"
Evelyn remained expressionless throughout.
After Old Mr. Castillo threw the report, she had handed it to Grace Lorenz beside her.
Grace now looked up, having heard Nicole's words, and spoke coldly. "Finished? Then it's my turn."
Nicole scoffed. "What new trick can you possibly pull now?"
Grace glanced at her, raised the report in her hand, and spoke clearly and firmly. "This DNA report is forged."
Everyone was taken aback.
Nicole's pupils constricted sharply. "What nonsense are you spouting?!"
Grace pointed to a line of data on the report. "I'm a forensic pathologist. Over the years, I've handled countless corpses and DNA tests. I know the human DNA database and data chains inside out. The data in this segment on the report does not belong to the human DNA range. Therefore, the sample the doctor took earlier was definitely tampered with."
Old Mr. Castillo whipped his head around, fixing his stare on the family doctor.
The family doctor avoided eye contact, cold sweat beading on his forehead.
Only then did everyone notice something was off—the doctor had seemed flustered earlier, but they had assumed he was just nervous. No one suspected foul play!
Evelyn stepped forward. "Where did you put the hair samples from me and the old gentleman after you took them?"
The doctor swallowed. "I... I didn't tamper with the samples. Don't make false accusations."
"Am I making false accusations, or were you bribed to secretly replace one of the samples with animal hair?" Evelyn's gaze was sharp as a blade. "Using animal hair for testing, of course it wouldn't show a familial relationship!"
She moved swiftly, executing a clean takedown, pinning the doctor to the ground.
Bringing Grace today was precisely to guard against this—on the Castillo family's turf, Nicole and Old Mr. Castillo were wary of them tampering, but how could she fully trust the Castillo family's doctors and equipment?
Sure enough, a problem emerged!
The family doctor struggled and shouted. "I really didn't tamper! I didn't!"
Nicole shrieked. "Grace Valentine, can't you accept losing? Causing a scene just because the result isn't what you wanted? Everyone knows that Lorenz woman is in cahoots with you. Her words are completely unreliable!"
Seeing the doctor stubbornly deny it, Evelyn sneered. She plucked another strand of her own hair and handed it to Grace. "Then we'll do it again. Grace, you operate."
Nicole immediately objected. "No!"
"Why not?" Evelyn looked coldly at her. "Unless you have a guilty conscience. You could bribe one Castillo family doctor, but can you bribe all of them?"
She turned to Old Mr. Castillo, her tone resolute. "Have your people and Grace supervise each other, operate the equipment together. The result will naturally be fair."
Nicole looked urgently at Old Mr. Castillo. "You old fool, I forbid you to test again!"
Old Mr. Castillo looked at Nicole, then at the doctor pinned to the ground. His expression darkened. Without hesitation, he plucked a white hair and handed it to Grace. "Fine, we'll do it again!"
He pointed to several other family doctors nearby. "This time, you watch the entire process. Don't leave for a single step!"
He personally led Grace and the doctors into the testing room, placing the two hair samples into the equipment.
The machine began to run.
Time ticked by.
Finally, a new report printed out.
