Chapter 476
Mrs. Evans threw down those words and strode away without a backward glance.
Justin's heart sank like a stone.
He stared fixedly at her retreating back, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.
In the depths of his eyes was stunned disbelief.
He couldn't believe it.
The sister he had desperately searched for over a decade had been driven to this point… by his own hand.
He glanced back at Jason.
Jason was being supported by someone, standing with his legs spread in an awkward stance.
Panic was written all over his face. "Third Brother, you have to believe me!"
Justin rushed at him, grabbing his collar. "Tell me she's not my sister!"
"Yes, yes! She's not!"
Justin stared at Jason, his fingers trembling slightly.
After a long moment, he released his grip and patted Jason's shoulder. "Good. Remember what you said."
He turned and charged out the door, running in the direction Mrs. Evans had gone.
Outside the hospital operating room.
Mrs. Evans arrived with her entourage in a hurry.
Seeing the lit surgery sign, her steps suddenly slowed.
She didn't dare go closer.
She was even afraid to verify it.
Was the girl she drove to jump really her Belle?
Mrs. Evans trembled from head to toe.
John spotted her immediately, fury igniting in his eyes.
He rushed over and grabbed her arm. "What did you do to Jane?! Why did she jump!"
There had been many witnesses when Jane fell.
Everyone confirmed she had jumped on her own.
The hospital hadn't called the police because of this.
But John knew Jane had just received her acceptance letter from the Nora Research Institute. She would never commit suicide.
They must have driven her to it…
Mrs. Evans looked at John, inexplicably guilty.
She opened her mouth, but no words came out.
Justin rushed over and shoved John away. "Get away from my mother!"
John staggered back, nearly falling.
He glared viciously at both of them and charged forward again. "You were on the rooftop too? Tell me what you did to Jane!"
Justin shouted sharply, "Don't go too far! Come any closer and I won't hold back! You're no match for me!"
John stood opposite them, staring them down.
After a long pause, he suddenly spoke. "Do you even know Jane is the daughter you've been searching for for seventeen years! How could you treat her like this? Won't you regret it!"
Before Mrs. Evans could speak, Justin roared, "I said she's not! Stop spouting nonsense!"
He simply couldn't accept this fact!
John charged forward emotionally. "No wonder she was so upset after going to see you that day! It was because you rejected her! Fine! If you won't acknowledge her, then she's my real sister! You hurt her today, I'll fight you to the death!"
John raised his crutch and swung it hard at Justin.
Justin meant to push him away, but suddenly remembered Jane raising a stick against him on the rooftop.
She hadn't even been afraid to die then.
If she had used force, his head would have been smashed.
But she had held back in the end.
This thought made Justin pause. He turned and took the blow squarely on his back without resisting.
Consumed by rage, John raised his crutch again after the first strike!
"You bullied Jane! If you didn't want to acknowledge her, why look for her? Because she doesn't know your hypocritical etiquette? Or because she's mute and you look down on her?"
"Even if you didn't want to reunite, you didn't have to drive her to her death! How could you be so cruel!"
As he hit and shouted, John suddenly threw down his crutch, crouched on the ground, and wept bitterly. "When I found Jane, she had a high fever that ruined her voice. In her delirium, she kept crying for her brother to run… Justin, you bastard, you're her brother!"
Justin was agitated by his crying.
His heart felt like it was being squeezed by an invisible hand!
He yelled at John, "I told you, she's not my sister! Jason already helped us find our sister!"
"Not her?"
John looked up sharply.
He stretched out his hand, covered in Jane's blood.
He thrust it toward them. "This is Jane's blood. If you don't believe me, go test it!"
Justin was frightened by his demeanor.
He looked at Mrs. Evans pleadingly.
Mrs. Evans pressed her lips together, then suddenly spoke. "Fine. We'll test it now."
