Chapter 463
Evelyn Ross entered the hospital room, her gaze as sharp as a blade.
She stared fixedly at Jason Evans lying in the bed.
She had heard every word he said clearly.
If John hadn't intervened desperately, her sister would have already been harmed.
This man deserved to die a thousand deaths!
If he weren't already severely injured, she would make him suffer again.
Her voice was icy cold. "Since when did New York become the Evans family's domain?"
Jason laughed arrogantly. "I can't speak for other industries, but in the medical field, the Evans family has the final say!"
His eyes were full of contempt. "If the Evans family says no, who would dare hire her?"
"She's already found a job."
Evelyn's tone was calm.
Jason was stunned for a moment, then sneered. "Who would be so bold? It couldn't be the Nora Research Institute, could it?"
He laughed uproariously. "Nora never accepts undergraduates, let alone interns!"
His lackeys chimed in:
"Daydreaming!"
"Who in New York's medical field would dare oppose the Evans family?"
"The bar at Nora Research Institute is so high. Is she even qualified?"
Evelyn impatiently rubbed her ears.
She turned to John. "Get up."
John remained kneeling on the floor, bandages wrapped around his legs.
His eyes were red, fists clenched. "It's my fault Jane got involved..."
"You're not wrong!"
Evelyn bent down abruptly, grabbing John's collar and pulling him up. "Resisting bullies is never wrong!"
Her eyes burned with intensity. "Jane is your sister. She should stand with you against injustice!"
John shook his head. "But now she can't even find a job... She's so talented..."
"I told you, she found a job!"
Evelyn's voice was firm.
John froze, looking at Jane. "Is it true?"
Jane hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
She signed with her hands. "I received an interview invitation from the Nora Research Institute."
John was shocked. "Nora Research Institute?"
Jane nodded again.
Jason suddenly interrupted. "Jane, there's a limit to lying! If you really got an interview at Nora, I'll eat all these papers!"
The lackeys burst into laughter:
"Who are you trying to fool?"
"How could Nora want an intern?"
"Was it a scam text?"
Jane glared angrily but couldn't refute them.
She found it hard to believe herself.
John asked urgently, "Is it true?"
Jane took out her phone, showing the interview text message.
John's eyes lit up. "It's real! Jane, go to the interview tomorrow!"
Jason scoffed. "Nora always calls for notifications. Why would they text? It must be a scam!"
John hesitated again. "Right, could this really be a scam?"
Jane looked lost and confused.
"It's not a scam."
Evelyn spoke calmly, pulling John up. "You'll know for sure when you try tomorrow."
She looked at Jane. "For now, come with us."
She still needed to ask about the jade pendant's origin.
Wasting time arguing with Jason here was pointless.
